Good news!
I got the most awesome news today. I won NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) funding for my Master's project! I called my mom and she read the letter to me over the phone. I jumped up and down for about 2 mins and then I ran around and told all my work friends, my supervisor, and called Geoff.
It just gets better because there are 2 kinds of NSERC scholarships. And I won the more prestigious one (CGS) because they are awarded to only the top ranked PGS candidates across the country! It's more than I could've hoped for!
I'm so psyched that I don't have to TA next year so I can focus on my research. And the extra money will help fund all my field expenses so I don't have to dip into my personal savings account. Ahhhh... life is good!
I don't know if it's the Irish name but good things always happen to me around St. Paddy's Day! And I don't know if you believe in horoscopes but here's my horoscope for today (checked after I got the good news):
Libra
This is one of the luckiest years you've had in more than a decade. For some Librans (those born Oct. 12 and later) [my b-day is Oct. 16], this good forture is about to kick in.
