The Sea Inside
I highly recommend that everyone watch this amazing Spanish film. It definitely deserved to win the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film and it should win the Oscar too.
The premise of this film (if you haven't already heard me raving about it) is one quadriplegic's 30-year campaign to end his life with dignity. It's actually based on the true story of Ramon Sampedro who broke his neck in a diving accident. Even though he was being cared for by his family and friends, he still wanted to die.
The movie does an amazing job of looking at the issue from all sides - not just Ramon's. They look at the issue through his family's eyes, his lawyer and legal aides, religious institutions, others with degenerative diseases, etc. Importantly, the movie doesn't try to moralize the issue of euthanasia but to present all sides of the argument and leave the moralizing to the audience.
Most of us would agree that everyone possesses the right to end their own life. The real issue with mercy killings/euthanasia is that it involves having someone else end your life. Putting that kind of burden on someone is a lot to ask for. So think about it... if someone in your family (your relative or your spouse, etc.) was in Ramon's situation and asked you to help them kill themselves, would you do it? Would you do the ultimate selfless thing?

Well, I stay away from mainstream movies... otherwise I probably would have negative stuff to say. The only mainstream movies I see tend to get good reviews from the critics anyways - like The Incredibles.
I have seen movies like Shall We Dance? and Finding Neverland but I choose not to review them on my blog since I don't have nice things to say.
So I only put up glowing reviews of the ones I really like and try to get other people out to watch them.
