Taming the Tiger Within
One of our yoga instructors at Yoga Passage read out a passage from this book for us. It got me interested so I went and borrowed it from the library. The book is by Thich Nhat Hanh, a famous Vietnamese Buddhist monk. Here's a quote that struck a vein with me since I've always believed this:
"In taking good care of yourself, you take good care of your beloved one. Self-love is the foundation for your capacity to love the other person. If you don't take good care of yourself, if you are not happy, if you are not peaceful, you cannot make the other person happy. You cannot help the other person; you cannot love. Your capacity for loving another person depends entirely on your capacity for loving yourself, for taking care of yourself."

That makes sense to me. I like it.
Somehow I still feel this is directed towards me.
It wasn't meant for anyone in particular, but just reinforced an idea I've had for a long time. I did have someone in mind when writing this but it wasn't you Scott and I doubt that the person I was thinking of will ever read this...
