Ethiopia or Peru??

So I'm getting a little cabin fever from the desire to escape this miserable weather in Calgary and the boredom of my job search. I started thinking about the next big trip that I want to do... and two places popped into mind. Ethiopia and Peru. Both these places would be perfect for a guided tour since language is definitely a problem since I speak neither Spanish nor Amharic. I recently won a voucher for GAP adventures so that is one reason I also think a tour with them would be a good idea. Albeit, a $100 off a $2000 trip is not a big deal but it's still something! hehe The $100 can go towards the plane tickets to Addis or Quito or Lima.

Here's the link to the Ethiopia itinerary:
http://www.gapadventures.com/tour/DEN
15 day trip including Addis Ababa, Kombolcha, Lalibela, Gondar, Simien Mountains National Park, Blue Nile Falls $1705 per person

There are several Peru itineraries that interested me:
http://www.gapadventures.com/tour/PPC
12 day trip including Lake Titicaca, Sacred Valley, Cuzco, Inca Trail, Machu Picchu $1225 per person

http://www.gapadventures.com/tour/PAL
12 day trip including Cuzco, Lares Trek, Machu Picchu, Amazon Rainforest $1225 per person

14 day trip including Quito, Galapagos Islands, Cuzco, Inca Trail, Machu Picchu $2025 per person

Now since the group sizes are so small 12-16 people I just need to convince that many friends to come on the trip. C'mon, it'll be fun! We'll be doing lots of trekking in the mountains so you'd better be in shape. You have till the end of 2008 or beginning of 2009 to get ready and save up money!

Hee hee! Well, I would definitely be up for Peru, but I don't have to book anything now for 2008 or 2009? Either of the three itineraries would be fine! I guess it all depends on what I'll be doing then! I'm still trying to figure out my life right now, let alone in two years! But saying that, I think South America is definitely on my list to visit in the very near future! And I would have fun traveling with you and Geoff, I am sure!
No promises, but do think of me when making concrete plans in the future!
Cheers!

Peru! Definitely Peru...you need to explore other continents besides Africa. ;) I can't promise anything, though...I've got my own list of places to go....

P.S. Peru is on my list while Ethiopia is not. Though things can change (Ghana was never on my list ;))

Sorry, that year (2008) has a booked trip already :)

On that note, I'd better research a bit of Pakistani culture before I go. :)

Yeah, I'm guessing Peru is everyone's choice. Geoff is using the same logic as Abbey saying that I should see another continent before going back to Africa. My friend Stephane has been to both countries and said he much preferred Peru. So maybe Peru in 2008!

Me, too! Me, too! I've heard that Peru is amazing. A friend of my family went to Machu Picchu a couple of years ago and said it was an incredible experience. I guess that means we'll have to do lots of hiking next season to get in shape! Like I need an excuse......
