Murphy's Law Revisited

My $50 food dehydrator turned out to be a piece of junk. It ironically overheats itself and shuts down. So I have the electricity but I don't have a working machine!

Pascale and I waited over 1.5 hours for a tro-tro into Nkoranza so we could buy supplies to make our own leaf drying oven. Amazingly enough we found everything we needed in the space of 20 minutes. That rarely happens in Africa!

I also managed to get some cell phone coverage so I could wake Geoff up (we're 6 hours ahead of MST) to have a 5 second phone conversation. It's already prohibitively expensive to call Canada. At least I managed to get coverage in town, yesterday I had to sit under a specific tree across the road from the guesthouse to get sporadic coverage. I must've redialed about 50 times to get to speak to Geoff at all.

Now we have to head back to BFMS where I will try to build an oven to dry my leaf samples. Technology - can't trust it at all!

One thing that probably is hiking up the cost may be the fact that you are calling Geoff's cell...

I have called Brian's (Andre's sibling) cellphone a few times to talk to Andre and it was not too far off from what you pay now.

Damned cellphones. They eat $$.

Actually, she only called my cell phone a couple times, and then switched to my home phone. My roommate Min came out of his room to ask what was going on, since the phone was ringing over and over again!

It wasn't a very long conversation but it was SO great to hear your voice, even for a little bit. Love you Ev!

That's one other thing I forgot to mention about LDR's ... the communication costs. :)
