Tara and Dennis' wedding
I think Tara is the first among my group of friends to get married. Tara and Dennis' story is pretty much a fairy-tale romance and I love telling it to everyone I know. Here's the short version:
Tara was meeting up with her friend Wendy to do some studying for chemistry. Wendy's boyfriend Scott was going to drive them to the UofC. Tara had planned on wearing baggy pants but for some reason decided she felt like dressing up and doing her hair. Lo and behold, a friend of Scott's from Edmonton (Dennis) was visiting for the weekend and was in the car when they went to pick up Tara. And as they say, the rest is history. 2 years later on Sat. April 3o they say "I do".
Geoff and I went to wedding. The ceremony was simple and elegant - Tara's dress and the bridesmaids' dresses were gorgeous! The string trio played Pachbel's "Canon in D" as the bride walked down the aisle on her father's arm. All the bridemaids starting crying as soon as Tara started walking down the aisle - it was very touching.
The reception at Glenmore Inn was very well done. It's amazing how much work from people other than the bride and groom goes into the reception. From the people who prepare the food to the DJ and the Emcees (Tara's best friend Elisa and brother Ryan)... it's just a huge endeavour. Another funny story that Larissa, one of Tara's candle lighters, related to us during the reception:
Tara and Dennis would take turns commuting every weekend to either Calgary or Edmonton. On one of these days, Tara had to take the bus home. She was crying and crying and kept getting out of the bus to hug Dennis one last time. The bus driver was standing outside having a smoke and said "Wow, that's rough man. How long until you see her again". Dennis' answer: "5 days".
Anyways, very happy that Tara has found her Prince Charming. To the happy couple!

If only my separation periods were 5 days instead of 6 months.
Thankfully, that'll be over soon. And yes, I admit to making scenes in airports all over the world when it comes time to say goodbye.
