Sad story about the baby elephant

So sad... the little baby elephant at the Calgary Zoo died. She was posthumously named Keemaya, the Hindi word for "miracle". It's so sad that she was rejected by her mother... I have a thing for elephants as most of you know. If I weren't in primatology working with monkeys, I would be working with elephants.

I want to thank the people who braved the cold and came out to the fundraiser for the elephant (Maurgan, Kev, Scott, Paul, and Geoff). We watched the Mongolian docudrama called "The Story of the Weeping Camel" which was eerily familiar to the real-life situation of the baby elephant. It was so cool to see life in the Gobi Desert. The peacefulness was so familiar to me having spent so much time in the Sahara Desert this summer.
