Stampede 2006
We went to the Stampede on Family Day this year. We got up early for the free admission and free breakfast... like 7:00 am early. This was no small feat considering Geoff had his stag party the night before! But we made it! We met up with Scott and Justin at the Stampede grounds. We walked all the way to the front of the Grandstand and got told to walk all the way to the end of the line (which was back at the entrance)! For some reason, it never occurred to us to that there would be a line. Oh well... we waited for an hour for breakfast and we even made it on the news for standing in line.
Finally got breakfast and then Scott had to leave to do some errands. Justin went on some midway rides and then we wandered around the Stampede. Geoff played the game where you have to shoot the star and get rid of it completely. He did it on the second try and won me a huge purple ape/monkey (looks like a gorilla with a tail)!! Justin named him Frederick III and we had to lug him around for the rest of the morning! :)
We bumped into Sandi and Andre at the Corral and had lunch together while waiting in line for the Super Dogs show. Also bumped into Yen and Ian at the show later on. It was lots of fun, the dogs were so cute!
Went home in the afternoon and took a much needed nap. We met up with Scott later in the evening and watched a bit of the Sam Roberts concert. I also played some midway games for the first time (I really suck at everything) but I did manage to help win a stuffed penguin! I really wanted to see the fireworks but we got rained out and had to run for cover. Oh well, I'm looking forward to GlobalFest in August. That will put the Stampede fireworks display to shame!
