Tanaka family reunion
It was the first annual Tanaka family reunion in Edmonton last weekend. I got to meet Geoff's grandmother Kay, and his uncle Keith and aunt Jane, cousin Scott, and cousin Toshi and her family (husband Frances, daughter Meiko, and baby Anakin). Most of the others I already knew from family dinners here in Calgary. We didn't get to meet uncle Brent and his family, or cousin Dean and his family. Maybe next year!
We started the reunion at the Japanese Gardens in the Devonian Garden (how appropriate). It was boiling hot in Edmonton and we came unprepared because we were rushing out of the condo in the morning. I didn't even have a hat and I was wearing a black shirt (very stupid of me). Anyways, the tour itself was very nice and we had a picnic afterwards too.
We reconvened at Gerry and Mary-Ann's house in Spruce Grove later in the afternoon for a BBQ. We had an absolute feast and it was lots of fun to get to know the family. We'll be seeing most of them at the wedding in less than a month.
The next day, Geoff and I visited my friend Julie. We walked to the park and threw the frisbee around for a bit. Then we went to Sherwood Park to have lunch with Tara and Dennis. Ironically Tara and Dennis had to rush from Calgary to Sherwood Park in order to have us over for lunch! We got the tour of their brand new house that they built themselves! It was really nice! We might have to move to some town outside of Calgary in order to get such a nice house!
Here are a few pictures from the weekend. Enjoy!
